Suicide Drone Attack Kills Three Children in Khartoum

KHARTOUM (Sudanese Echoes) – Sudan’s capital, Khartoum, was ‎struck by a devastating tragedy on Monday after a suicide drone hit a ‎home in Imtidad Nasr neighbourhood in eastern Khartoum, killing ‎three siblings and seriously injuring their mother. The attack came as ‎the Sudanese Army’s ground-based air defences engaged a second ‎wave of drone attacks targeting the vicinity of Khartoum International ‎Airport.‎

Medical sources and eyewitnesses told media outlets that the drone’s ‎missile strike killed the children: Doaa Faisal Hassan, aged two; Lujain ‎Faisal Hassan, aged four; and Gadura Al-Tijani, aged six. Their mother ‎was rushed to hospital in critical condition and admitted to the ‎intensive care unit, covered in blood. Reports also indicated that ‎another person, a man, was killed at a separate location in the wider ‎attacks.‎

On the ground, multiple military sources revealed that eastern ‎Khartoum had been subjected to two successive waves of drone ‎attacks during the day. The Army’s ground-based air defences engaged ‎the aerial incursions and shot down two drones. The first came down ‎in the Burri neighbourhood and the second in Imtidad Nasr, both near ‎the General Command headquarters of the Sudanese Armed Forces ‎and the vicinity of Khartoum International Airport.‎

Another drone crashed near the University of Khartoum’s student ‎residences in central Khartoum, amid loud explosions that shook the ‎capital.‎
