Sudanese Army Says It Repelled RSF–SPLM-N Attack in Blue Nile ‎Region

The Sudanese Army said on Monday that it had foiled an attack by an ‎alliance of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and the Sudan People’s ‎Liberation Movement–North (SPLM-N) on Al-Baraka area in Al-Kormuk ‎locality, southeastern Blue Nile Region.‎

In a statement, the Command of the Fourth Infantry Division in Blue ‎Nile Region said its forces, together with supporting units, had ‎delivered what it described as a decisive blow to the alliance of the ‎RSF and the SPLM-N, led by Joseph Tuka, in Al-Baraka in the region’s ‎southern sector.‎

The division’s command said it had carried out a specialised operation ‎to thwart the alliance’s movements and block its attempt to advance ‎towards army positions.‎

According to the statement, the Fourth Infantry Division’s forces ‎succeeded in disrupting hostile movements, destroying a number of ‎vehicles and pieces of equipment, and inflicting heavy losses in ‎personnel and materiel, forcing the attacking elements to retreat ‎under fire.‎

The statement added that the operation demonstrated the Armed ‎Forces’ vigilance and readiness to respond decisively to any hostile ‎movement targeting their positions or threatening the security of ‎civilians and their property.‎

The Fourth Infantry Division’s command pledged to continue ‎monitoring the situation, strengthen security in the southern sector, ‎and deploy forces to retake areas seized by the alliance of the RSF and ‎the SPLM-N.‎
