Air Traffic Resumes at Khartoum Airport After Hours-Long Closure

KHARTOUM (Sudanese Echoes) – Operations at Khartoum ‎International Airport resumed after the airport was closed for ‎approximately six hours. Air traffic subsequently returned to normal ‎after two drones launched by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) were ‎intercepted while targeting areas around the airport, Asharq ‎Bloomberg reported, citing military sources.‎

According to the sources, one of the drones came down east of the ‎runway in an uninhabited area. No casualties or damage had been ‎recorded in the preliminary information available so far.‎

However, sources who spoke to the Baldna Aviation platform said the ‎airport was operating normally and denied reports circulating about ‎its closure.‎

On Monday, the Sudanese Army’s ground-based air defences also ‎repelled an attack by suicide drones attempting to target Khartoum ‎International Airport. A military source told Ultra Sudan that two ‎suicide drones had flown in the vicinity of the airport before being ‎intercepted and shot down by ground-based air defences, preventing ‎them from reaching their targets.‎
