RSF Drones Attack Power Distribution Stations in Merowe and Kassala
The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia continued its attacks on Sudan’s energy and electricity infrastructure, targeting three electricity distribution stations in Kassala and Northern states on Monday, leaving large areas without power.
For a week, electricity stations across most parts of Sudan have been subjected to systematic drone attacks. More than 17 electricity distribution stations in the states of Al-Gadharef, Khartoum, Al-Gezira, Red Sea, Sennar, White Nile, South Kordofan, River Nile, Northern and Kassala have sustained attacks and extensive damage, causing power outages in several cities and disrupting vital sectors.
Local sources told Sudan Tribune that an RSF drone attacked the Aroma and New Halfa electricity distribution stations in Kassala State early Monday, destroying both stations and cutting off electricity across the state.
The sources added that the air attacks also targeted the electricity distribution station in the city of Merowe in Northern State, near Merowe Dam, one of Sudan’s largest hydroelectric power generation facilities.
