Explosions Rock Nyala as Air Force Targets RSF Militia Command Meeting
The Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) carried out airstrikes Sunday on several positions of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia in Nyala, the capital of South Darfur State in western Sudan.
Military sources told Ultra Sudan that army drones carried out airstrikes in several parts of the city, including the city center, targeting military facilities, weapons and ammunition depots, and combat vehicles.
Eyewitnesses said they heard powerful explosions in the city center and saw columns of smoke rising, but were unable to determine the targets hit by the strikes.
Witnesses and sources said the concentrated airstrikes targeted strategic facilities located in Al-Mazad and Al-Jomhouriya neighborhoods and around the Cinema area in the city center.
The operations completely destroyed a network of military supply depots and military equipment belonging to the forces. The same sources confirmed that the airstrikes struck a facility where an expanded meeting of senior RSF field commanders was underway, resulting in deaths and injuries among those attending the meeting.
Meanwhile, multiple field sources confirmed that the airstrikes also targeted an advanced launch platform for suicide drones that the forces had installed in the area.
The strike completely destroyed the platform and also injured a number of foreign technicians and operators of Colombian nationality who were responsible for operating the guidance and aviation systems and preparing the drones for the forces.
