Air Traffic Resumes at Khartoum Airport After Hours-Long Closure
KHARTOUM (Sudanese Echoes) – Operations at Khartoum International Airport resumed after the airport was closed for approximately six hours. Air traffic subsequently returned to normal after two drones launched by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) were intercepted while targeting areas around the airport, Asharq Bloomberg reported, citing military sources.
According to the sources, one of the drones came down east of the runway in an uninhabited area. No casualties or damage had been recorded in the preliminary information available so far.
However, sources who spoke to the Baldna Aviation platform said the airport was operating normally and denied reports circulating about its closure.
On Monday, the Sudanese Army’s ground-based air defences also repelled an attack by suicide drones attempting to target Khartoum International Airport. A military source told Ultra Sudan that two suicide drones had flown in the vicinity of the airport before being intercepted and shot down by ground-based air defences, preventing them from reaching their targets.
