Sudanese and Egyptian Foreign Ministers Hold Official Talks in Sudan

An official meeting was held on Wednesday in Portsudan between Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aati and Sudanese Foreign Minister Ali Youssef El-Sherif to discuss ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries and confront regional challenges.

 

The official spokesman for the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, Ambassador Tamim Khallaf, explained that Minister Abdel-Aati stressed the depth of bilateral relations with Sudan, pointing to the full support for Sudanese state institutions and the need to preserve the unity and integrity of Sudan’s territories.

 

Abdel-Aati emphasized the importance of reaching a ceasefire in Sudan, appreciating the steps taken by the Sudanese government to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid, which reflects Khartoum’s keenness to alleviate the suffering of its citizens. He also expressed his appreciation for Egypt’s efforts in supporting education for Sudanese, as secondary school certificate exams were held for about 28,000 students from the Sudanese community in Egypt, as part of enhancing educational cooperation between the two countries.

 

The two sides also touched on consolidating Sudan’s participation in the African Union, and joint efforts to ensure Sudan’s stability at the regional and international levels.

 

Regarding the water security issue, the discussions touched on the necessity to intensify coordination between Egypt and Sudan to ensure the protection of joint interests in this vital field, while stressing the importance of continuous cooperation to maintain water security for both countries.
