Hundreds of Sudanese Protesters Surround Berlin Conference Venue, Reject International “Tutorship”
Hundreds of Sudanese protesters gathered outside the venue hosting the Sudan conference in Berlin on Wednesday, in a large demonstration rejecting what they described as international “tutorship” and condemning the exclusion of Sudan’s government from the talks.
The demonstrators, including members of the Sudanese diaspora, said the decision to hold the conference without the participation of the legitimate authorities in Sudan amounted to a deliberate attempt to impose external agendas that do not reflect domestic realities. They also objected to the invitation of parties they accused of supporting or financing the war in Sudan.
The protest was organized in part by the Sudanese diaspora coalition “Sada,” alongside growing numbers of Sudanese who travelled from various European cities to take part in the demonstration in Germany.
Chants echoed outside the venue as protesters voiced a unified rejection of any political solutions that do not reflect the will of the Sudanese people, while reaffirming support for national sovereignty and state institutions.
The demonstrators said they were determined to make their voices heard internationally, stressing that any outcomes from the Berlin conference that exclude the Sudanese government and public mandate would be “stillborn and illegitimate,” according to their statements.
