Sudan Denies Targeting South Sudanese Through Foreign Residency Regulation Campaigns
The Sudanese Embassy in South Sudan stated that the recent security and administrative measures implemented by Sudanese authorities in Khartoum do not target citizens of the Republic of South Sudan. It emphasized that the actions are part of a comprehensive national plan to regulate foreign presence and ensure public security and stability.
In a press statement issued on Saturday, the embassy explained that the campaign aims to reinforce adherence to the law, particularly regarding entry and residence regulations for foreigners and the provisions of the Labor Relations Act. It affirmed that all procedures are being carried out in accordance with existing laws and regulations, with full respect for the dignity of residents and without discrimination.
The embassy strongly denied what it described as “malicious rumors” alleging that South Sudanese nationals were being targeted, stressing that such claims are intended to sow discord and harm the relations between the two peoples. It reaffirmed Sudan’s commitment to protecting the rights of South Sudanese citizens and providing them with necessary facilities within the framework of the historical relations between the two countries.
