New details on the formation of an interim government and parliament in Sudan disclosed

The Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) (origin), headed by Mohamed Osman Al-Mirghani, has welcomed the roadmap to reach comprehensive peace in Sudan, which was delivered to President Al-Burhan in Portsudan, considering it a gateway to a decisive solution to the Sudanese crisis.

The political advisor to the Head of the Democratic Unionist Party (origin), Hatim Al-Sir, confirmed the participation of a negotiating team from the party’s leaderships in preparing the roadmap that includes the features of the national consensus project.

Al-Mirghani’s advisor strongly denied the existence of any divisions over the party’s vision regarding its position on resolving the Sudanese crisis.

Al-Sir revealed the existence of initial informal consultations regarding the formation of the new government. He explained that the new government will be without participation of parties and without political, tribal or regional quotas, stressing that the basic criterion agreed upon to form the government is the high competence and extensive experience of the nominated person in the field of specialization.

Al-Sir added that the tasks of the new government are to pave the way for holding free and fair general elections, explaining that the consultations included forming a legislative council (a transitional parliament) of 250 members representing the legislative authority in the country and including representatives of political, societal, cultural, civil forces, youth, women, unions and various sectors of Sudanese society.
