Sudanese Army Downs Advanced Drone Deep Inside RSF-Held Territory

The Sudanese Armed Forces announced on Tuesday, 23 June 2026, that they had shot down a hostile drone over the town of Tawila in North Darfur.

In a press statement, the military spokesperson said air defence systems had successfully intercepted and downed an FH-95 drone north of Tawila, without providing further details.

Observers noted that the downing of a drone in an area not previously declared under the army’s control may reflect an expansion of the military’s air defence capabilities and could alter the dynamics of drone warfare in the Darfur region.
