Secret Orders: Hemedti Imposes Travel Permit Requirement on RSF Officials
The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have imposed new restrictions on the movement of political and executive officials working under the administration in areas under the group’s control, requiring prior official authorization before travelling within or outside those areas.
According to multiple sources cited by Darfur24, the measures follow a series of defections in recent months involving political and military officials who left RSF-controlled areas and joined the government headed by Sudanese Armed Forces Commander General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan.
A source within the RSF told Darfur24 that unwritten directives issued by RSF commander Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (Hemedti) had been circulated to officials in the states and localities, prohibiting any official or leader from leaving their area of assignment or travelling elsewhere without prior approval.
The source said the new restrictions apply to executive and political officials at all administrative levels and that the stated purpose is to monitor officials’ movements and track their security and administrative status.
The measures come days after the RSF detained several officials from the so-called civil administration on allegations that they were attempting to leave RSF-held areas and travel to South Sudan before moving to government-controlled territories.
Sources also indicated that several other officials have succeeded in leaving RSF-controlled areas and reaching territories held by the Sudanese army in recent months.
