New Details of Currency Replacement in Sudan

Member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), Assistant Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Lt. Gen. Engineer Ibrahim Jabir, presided over, Friday the meeting of the Higher Committee for Currency Replacement.

Minister of Culture and Information explained, in a press statement, that the meeting discussed a number of important issues and final arrangements for resuming the replacement process, pointing out that despite the exceptional circumstances the country is going through as a result of the terrorist militia destroying the capabilities of the Sudanese people and their economy, the committee has put in place a number of controls and procedures to ensure the safety and smoothness of the exchange process.

The minister pointed out that the meeting touched on security procedures and controls and ways to combat currency counterfeiting and depositing looted funds by the rebel terrorist militia, in addition to monitoring suspicious cases that may accompany the exchange of currency by weak-willed people to exploit it in criminal operations, stressing that the committee has put in place several controls to verify counterfeit banknotes before opening an account.

Al-Aiser said, “the replacement process will not be done in cash, rather through bank deposits to preserve the citizen’s right and protect the national economy.”
