Nearly 15,000 Foreign Nationals Detained for Residency Violations in Khartoum
Sudanese police have announced the detention of 14,966 foreign nationals of various nationalities for residing illegally in the country between July 2024 and December 2024.
Since the Sudanese Armed Forces regained control of the capital, Khartoum, in May 2025, Khartoum State authorities have begun registering refugees with the aim of relocating them to refugee camps and deporting others to their countries of origin.
Police Spokesperson Brigadier Fath Al-Rahman Mohamed Al-Tom told Ultra Sudan that the Khartoum Evacuation Committee for Refugees and Foreign Nationals carried out 259 operations during the July–December 2024 period. He said the operations resulted in the arrest of 14,966 foreign nationals residing illegally.
According to Al-Tom, 11,434 individuals were deported, while 6,187 refugees were transferred to designated camps.
He stressed that the objective of these campaigns is to clear Khartoum State of illegal foreign presence by relocating refugees to camps and deporting foreign nationals found to be in violation of residency regulations.
