Hamdok-led (Tagadum) takes off its robe and wears (Sumoud)

Political forces, professional and social components, and Sudanese figures rejecting the proposal to “form a parallel government” in the coordination of democratic civil forces (Tagadum), announced on Tuesday the formation of the “Civil Democratic Alliance of Revolutionary Forces” (Sumoud) through temporary structures headed by former Prime Minister Abdullah Hamdok, after the dissolution of “Tagadum”. On Monday, “Tagadum” announced the dissolution of a group calling for the formation of a government.

(Sumoud) – which includes 58 Sudanese forces and figures – said in its statement on Tuesday that “recent months have witnessed a difference in visions between the components of (Tagadum), so the dissolution of political and organizational ties was approved between two positions, the first of which sees the continuation of the struggle through means of democratic civil work without forming a government, and a position that sees forming a government as one of the tools of the coordination’s work.”

The statement detailed that it was agreed to work through temporary structures headed by Hamdok until the permanent structures are approved after completing the necessary organizational discussions. The forces considered “the step of forming (Sumoud), came from the belief and commitment to the importance of choosing and committing to democracy as an independent path and to confronting any action or statement that threatens the unity of the country and tears its social fabric.”

They stressed that their goals should be the tireless pursuit of protecting civilians, confronting any violations they are exposed to, addressing the humanitarian crisis, and ending the war urgently through a peaceful political solution that addresses the roots of the crisis, leading to the establishment of the Sudanese state and the establishment of sustainable and just peace.
