Interview: Mohamed Al-Fatih
Former Egyptian Assistant Foreign Minister Ambassador Salah Halima has stressed the importance of having a single national army in Sudan, calling for the integration of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia with the exception of mercenaries from foreign countries.
Halima said, in an interview with (Sudanese Echoes), that the integration process requires external financial funding, indicating that Egypt emphasizes the unity of Sudan and the integrity of its territories, explaining the necessity of finding a (Sudanese-Sudanese) dialogue without foreign interference.
Halima pointed out that Egypt facilitates the process of preparing the climate for the Sudanese dialogue, revealing Egypt’s coordinating role with several countries to restore stability in Sudan through a community initiative, calling for expediting the dialogue between the Sudanese parties to reach the formation of a national government of independent figures.
Halima revealed a demand from Sudanese politicians that Egypt and Saudi Arabia be sponsors of the Sudanese-Sudanese dialogue. He added, “There are some countries and organizations trying to monopolize the Sudanese solution,” noting that Egyptian national security is linked to Sudanese national security, adding, “The situation requires the countries that support the militia to take into account the interests of the Sudanese people, and there must be a specialized committee to draft a permanent constitution for Sudan by referring to the Sudanese people.”
