Egypt Renews Call for Urgent Truce in Sudan, Opening Safe Humanitarian Corridors
Egypt has reiterated its call for the launch of a comprehensive political process in Sudan, while renewing its categorical rejection of any recognition of the secession of so-called “Somaliland.”
Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty, during a meeting held on Sunday with United States Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau, stressed the paramount importance of reaching an urgent humanitarian truce in Sudan, alongside the establishment of safe humanitarian shelters and corridors, as a step toward a comprehensive ceasefire.
Abdelatty also reaffirmed Egypt’s firm and supportive position in favour of respecting Sudan’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, underscoring the need to preserve its national institutions as a cornerstone for stability and for bringing the ongoing crisis to an end.
