Due to Torture… Hundreds of detainees died in a (militia) prison
Hundreds of families sent urgent appeals to the Secretary-General of the United Nations and national and international human rights organizations, stating that Soba prison, which is under the control of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia, contains no less than 6,000 detainees, most of whom are innocent civilians, where arrests are done on suspicion and without any investigation.
A number of survivors of the prison said, in their statements, that the jail contains thousands of abductees and detainees, most of whom are citizens, pensioners of the regular forces, and the elderly.
They added: “The situation is very miserable and extremely bad inside the prison, where the abductees suffer from harsh and degrading detention conditions, and are tortured, starved, beaten and humiliated in the complete absence of health care.”
It is worth recalling that hundreds of detainees have died either due to systematic torture, or due to the spread of epidemics, diseases and the absence of health care, with the militia deliberately starving the detainees and not subjecting them to medical examination.
