Customs Foil Smuggling of Kornet Missiles and Weapons in Red Sea State
Customs authorities said they had foiled an attempt to smuggle Kornet missiles and weapons, including U.S.-made pistols, along Sudan’s Red Sea coast.
In a statement, the Customs Anti-Smuggling Department said, in coordination with the General Intelligence Service, it had foiled a major smuggling operation south of Red Sea State along the coast, seizing a number of weapons and military equipment.
The seized items included a Kornet anti-tank missile launcher, 595 empty Kalashnikov magazines, 595 empty G3 magazines, 15 U.S.-made pistols and three Brazilian-made pistols.
Customs said it had taken the necessary legal measures regarding the seized items pending completion of the relevant procedures.
