Chemical pollution in Khartoum due to RSF militia attacks on industrial areas

 

The Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Environment and Natural Resources, Dr. Muna Ali Mohamed, revealed that Khartoum State was exposed to chemical pollution due to the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia attacks on industrial areas, pointing out the importance to combine efforts to find solutions to this problem.

 

Dr. Muna said, during a training workshop on the dangers of chemicals at the Customs Hall in Portsudan on Wednesday, that Khartoum State in particular needs great effort to avoid any potential negatives.

 

Dr. Muna added that pollution with chemicals is common due to the presence of chemicals in many products in varying degrees and they are capable of causing pollution, which requires intensive awareness at the federal, state, local and individual levels.

 

In an interview with the Sudan News Agency (SUNA), Dr. Muna touched on the international protocols related to dealing with these hazardous materials, pointing out that Sudan is part of these agreements and protocols.

 

The Supreme Council for Environment and Natural Resources organized the second training workshop on Wednesday on detecting prohibited and restricted chemicals and hazardous waste, in the presence of Brigadier Police Abu Bakr Hanafi and the participation of a number of relevant institutions.The workshop activities will end tomorrow, Thursday.
