CBoS Governor: No Extension of Currency Replacement Period
Follow-up: Nahid Oshi
The Governor of the Central Bank of Sudan (CBoS), Burae Siddig, revealed that counterfeit banknotes were detected among the deposits of bank customers during the currency replacement process, pointing out that banks were directed to exert more care and effort to ensure the detection of counterfeit currency from old denominations.
CBoS governor said, during his meeting with the head of the security subcommittee of the Currency Replacement Committee, that the currency replacement project is a war waged by the CBoS and relevant parties on the economic side.
Meanwhile, Siddig expected more interest in opening accounts and increasing deposits, particularly that the state is committed to the set period for the replacement without extension.
Siddig sent a reassuring message to citizens in the states not included in the replacement process that their money is safe.
