Sudan, Egypt, Eritrea and Somalia Leaders Hold Emergency Summit

The Egyptian city of Alamein is hosting an ‎emergency four-way summit today, Sunday, bringing together ‎President of the Sudanese Sovereignty Council Lieutenant General ‎Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi, ‎Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki, and Somali President Hassan Sheikh ‎Mohamud to discuss regional developments and issues of security, ‎stability, and partnership in the region.‎

 

The summit comes as part of regular consultations among the leaders ‎of the countries of the region on issues related to the Red Sea, Gulf of ‎Aden, Horn of Africa, and Nile Basin, as well as joint coordination on ‎growing security and political challenges.‎

 

Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki had arrived in Cairo at the invitation ‎of Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi to participate in the summit. ‎He is expected to discuss with President Al-Sisi ways to strengthen ‎bilateral relations and expand prospects for cooperation between the ‎two countries.‎
