Army Repels Attack Near Ethiopian Border

Damazin, (Sudanese Echoes) – The Sudanese army on Saturday ‎announced that it had thwarted an attack by the Rapid Support Forces ‎‎(RSF) militia on Minza and Bashkargad in eastern Blue Nile Region, near ‎the Ethiopian border.‎

Minza, located in Wad Al-Mahi locality, is considered a strategic army ‎position east of the Roseires Dam.‎

The 4th Infantry Division said in a statement that it had “delivered a ‎decisive blow to the militia and the forces of rebel Joseph Tuka” in the ‎areas of Minza and Bashkargad in the eastern sector of Blue Nile Region.‎

It said it had thwarted the forces’ movements and blocked their advance ‎toward army positions in a specialized operation that inflicted heavy ‎losses in personnel and equipment.‎

The division, the army’s main base in Blue Nile, said it had forced the ‎attacking forces to retreat under fire and destroyed a number of vehicles ‎and pieces of equipment.‎

The attack came hours after the RSF carried out drone strikes targeting ‎the residence of the Blue Nile Region governor in Al-Damazin and other ‎sites in the city.‎

The statement said the operation demonstrated the army’s vigilance and ‎readiness to decisively deal with any hostile movements targeting its ‎positions or the security of civilians and their property.‎

It added that the 4th Infantry Division command was continuing to ‎monitor the situation, strengthen security measures in the eastern ‎sector, and deploy forces to clear every inch controlled by the RSF militia ‎and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement.‎
