Investigation Committee of Tribal Authority Questions Musa Hilal over Killing of Hemeidti’s Advisor
The investigation committee formed by the local authority of the Awlad Jalul clan, part of the Mahamid tribe, held a hearing with Musa Hilal regarding the accusations directed at him and his son, Fathi, in connection with the killing of Hamid Ali Abubakr, an advisor to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia.
Hamid was killed in a drone strike in early January in the eastern area of Zalingei city. The incident followed prior disputes between the advisor Hamid Ali and Fathi Musa Hilal, a commander in the Revolutionary Awakening Council forces allied with the Sudanese army.
Sources told Darfur24 that the tribal investigation committee met with Musa Hilal and recorded his statements concerning the allegations against him and his son. Hilal reportedly demonstrated considerable flexibility in dealing with the committee and affirmed his full commitment to the outcome of the investigations.
The committee also heard statements from the family of the deceased, who demanded that Fathi Musa Hilal be arrested and handed over to a neutral authority pending the completion of the investigation.
