Partial Resumption of Operations at Heglig Oil Field After Weeks of Halt
Partial operations have resumed at the Heglig oil field following a weeks-long halt, after the army withdrew from the area and the Rapid Support Forces took control.
Engineering sources working at the field told Darfur24 that the technical teams of 2P–UPCO began, yesterday, an initial operation of the field’s facilities. Three power generators at the energy station were activated, and more than 30 oil wells were brought back into operation as a first phase, with technical efforts ongoing to restart the remaining wells across the company’s various production blocks.
The Heglig field contains around 75 oil wells distributed across multiple production blocks and hosts the central processing facility for the oil of West Kordofan and South Sudan states, making it one of the most strategic fields in the region.
