Shockwaves in Al-Hilu’s Stronghold: Kauda Engulfed in Clashes Among SPLM Factions

Eyewitnesses reported violent clashes between factions of Al-Hilu’s Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) near the town of Kauda, a stronghold of the movement in South Kordofan, resulting in casualties on both sides.

The fighting reportedly began around 7 a.m. in the village of Sileri, about 5 km east of Kauda, and spread to the Dordor area southwest of the town. No confirmed casualty figures are available.

The clashes come amid recurring tensions in SPLM-N-controlled areas. On May 3, factions reportedly attacked the village of Korundi near Kauda, causing deaths and injuries and destroying a church and homes. Similar clashes in March in the Dabi area left more than 20 people dead following a dispute over border demarcation.
