Army Repels RSF Counterattack to Retake Bara and Jabra Al-Sheikh

The Sudanese Armed Forces, backed by the Joint Forces, on Sunday repelled a major counterattack and desperate flanking attempts by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) aimed at recapturing strategic areas and towns they lost the previous day in North Kordofan.

Field sources reported that fierce clashes inflicted heavy human and material losses on the attacking forces, including hundreds of casualties among RSF personnel and the destruction and capture of dozens of combat vehicles with their full military equipment.

The RSF had launched a coordinated offensive to regain key positions and vital centres in North Kordofan, particularly the towns of Bara and Jabrat-Al-Sheikh, as well as the Om Siala area. However, the attack plans were thwarted by a strong defensive line that broke the attacking force and forced it to retreat.

Following the setback, the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Joint Forces continued consolidating their military positions in the liberated areas, while launching extensive clearance operations and ground and air pursuit of fleeing RSF elements across open desert fronts.
