Turkey Announces Support for Vital Projects in Sudan, Finance Minister Confirms Completion of Preparations

The Republic of Turkey has announced its support for the resumption of key projects in Sudan.

 

 

Meanwhile, Minister of Finance, Dr. Gebreil Ibrahim, confirmed the completion of all necessary arrangements to commence preparatory works for the Kalaneeb and Garri thermal power projects, implemented by Turkish companies.

 

The minister made these remarks during his meeting with the Turkish Ambassador to Sudan, Fatih Yildiz, and representatives of several Turkish firms. He highlighted the deep-rooted relations between the two countries, expressing Sudan’s desire for expanded strategic partnerships to achieve mutual interests and strengthen economic cooperation.

 

 

Dr. Gebreil praised Turkey’s continued support for vital projects in Sudan, stressing the government’s commitment to removing all impediments hindering their implementation.

 

 

For his part, Ambassador Yildiz affirmed the Turkish government’s support for resuming energy and water projects within the framework of bilateral economic cooperation. He asserted his government’s direct interest in strengthening strategic partnerships in the oil and gas sectors, announcing the arrival of Turkish engineers to begin work on the Kalaneeb – Port Sudan thermal power project. He also revealed plans to encourage more Turkish companies to invest in Sudan, benefiting both countries.

 

 

Meanwhile, the Director of the National Energy and Engineering Company, Badr-Eddin Ali, stated that the two projects are being implemented under the direct supervision of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) and the Council of Ministers, with follow-up by the Ministries of Finance and Energy, and funding from the African Export-Import Bank, the Ministry of Energy, and the National Energy and Engineering Company. He confirmed that all arrangements required to commence the completion works for the projects have been finalized.
