Commanders of Group 22 Flee Nyala and Surrender to Army
Six officers from the Mahamid tribe, led by Lieutenant Colonel Ismail Ali Abdulrahman Abdullah “Abu Rahaf,” commander of Group 22 within the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), have announced their surrender to the Sudanese Armed Forces.
According to Al-Onwan 24, the officers, accompanied by a number of fighters, managed to leave Nyala through Al-Daein and Al-Na’am before arriving safely in Juba, where they were handed over to intelligence authorities.
The officers are expected to arrive in Port Sudan following arrangements and coordination with the relevant authorities.
Last April, Major General Al-Nour Al-Goba, regarded as the militia’s third-ranking commander, announced his defection and surrender to the Sudanese Army.
