Drone Strike Kills Senior North Darfur Government Official and His Wife
The Government of North Darfur State in western Sudan announced the killing of its Secretary-General, Mohmandai Abdullah Adam Khater, and his wife in a drone strike carried out by Rapid Support Forces (RSF) targeting their home in El-Fashir city.
The government noted that Khater’s death is among hundreds of casualties recently recorded in El-Fashir, the state capital, pointing to the attack on worshippers at Al-Safiya neighborhood mosque on Friday, which resulted in 75 deaths and left 10 others critically injured.
North Darfur Governor, Al-Hafiz Bakhit Mohamed, and members of his government mourned Khater, describing him as an experienced administrative officer who served as an administrative officer and executive director in several localities of the state, in addition to holding the position of Secretary of the Local Government Council of North Darfur State.
The statement emphasized that Khater “was dedicated to his work, devoting all his time and effort to serve citizens, and remained stationed in El-Fasher despite difficult circumstances and the unjust siege until the moment of his martyrdom.”
