Interpol in Chad hands over 124 vehicles looted from Sudan to government
The Chargé d’Affaires of the Sudanese Embassy in N’Djamena, Abdullah Abkar Salih, received 124 four-wheel drive and regular vehicles on Wednesday in the Chadian capital, N’Djamena, from Chadian authorities, represented by the Chadian Interpol Police.
These vehicles were pillaged from Sudan during the war.
This operation is part of the second phase of efforts to recover stolen property, attended by the Chadian Minister of Public Security and Immigration.
Ambassador Abdullah expressed his appreciation to the Chadian and Sudanese police, as well as all relevant authorities who contributed to the seizure of these vehicles. He announced that the embassy would send a list of the vehicles and the names of their owners in Sudan.
In press statements, he called on the vehicle owners to contact Interpol and the Consular Directorate of the Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs to expedite the handover process.
He pointed out that the embassy still has a number of vehicles from the first batch that were recently impounded, and their owners have yet to receive them.
He urged car owners who have not yet received their vehicles to expedite their collection.
He emphasized that additional batches of vehicles are arriving, necessitating the expedited repatriation of the vehicles currently on hand.
