Sudanese Investigations Conducts Campaign to Stop Logging of Acacia Forest in Khartoum

The Central Investigations Directorate conducted a major campaign to protect the Acacia Forest in Khartoum from negative activities, including burning, destruction, and illegal logging. The forest has been subjected to these activities in the past. Some aggressors deliberately cut and transported timber for illegal trade, which constitutes a violation of local and international laws.

The campaign resulted in the arrest of 41 suspects, two bulldozer trucks, two trolleys, and 30 axes. Legal action was taken against those involved.

The Director of Investigations, Maj. Gen. Sami Al-Siddig , told the police press office that his directora’s efforts to combat and uncover crime are ongoing, along with regular campaigns targeting those who encroach on the Acacia Forest. The campaign aims to protect it, as it is a natural reserve under the law, and represents an integrated ecosystem that contributes to climate balance. It is also one of the country’s tourist attractions.
