Washington Calls for Opening Humanitarian Corridors to Tarsin and Across Sudan
Washington – Sudanese Echoes
The United States on Wednesday urged unrestricted humanitarian access to the village of Tarsin in Jebel Marra, western Sudan, and to all affected areas, as the country grapples with overlapping crises of war, natural disasters, and epidemics.
In a statement issued Wednesday, the U.S. State Department called on the Sudanese government, the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), and the Sudan Liberation Movement led by Abdel-Wahid Mohamed Nour to immediately allow the delivery of humanitarian assistance without hindrance to all parts of Sudan.
The statement highlighted the village of Tarsin, which the Sudan Liberation Movement said was completely destroyed by landslides triggered by heavy rains, leaving more than one thousand people dead.
On Monday, the Sudan Liberation Movement/Army announced that over one thousand people lost their lives on Sunday in Tarsin due to massive landslides.
