UN official secretly visits El-Geneina without the knowledge of Sudan’s government

Sources has disclosed that the UN Humanitarian Coordinator, Clementine Nicota Salami, made a secret visit on Friday to El-Geneina, the capital of West Darfur State, without the knowledge of the Sudanese authorities.

The UN official was accompanied, on the visit, by a number of individuals, in addition to an employee of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), Zalingei office.

Sudanese news sources revealed that Salami, and her accompanying delegation, met with commanders of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia.

It is noteworthy that the meeting was coordinated by the Norwegian Refugee Council, where Salami stayed for hours in El-Geneina before leaving for Chad.
