Sudan’s Foreign Minister: War will end with the surrender of the defeated

Sudanese Foreign Minister Ali Youssef confirmed that the Sudanese army’s recapture of the city of Wad Madani represents the beginning of the decisive phase in the war against the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), describing it as a “historic moment” that will change the balance of power in favor of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF).

Youssef said, in a special interview with the (Al-Mas’iya) program on Al Jazeera Mubasher on Saturday, “This is a pivotal moment in which the balance of power shifts in favor of the armed forces of the people, and in favor of the decisive position of the strength of the Sudanese people who stood with their army in the Battle of Dignity.”

The minister added that the armed forces and regular forces are currently surrounding a number of areas controlled by the RSF militia and seeking to retake them, noting that “forces are on their way to other locations, and they are besieging the militia in multiple locations.”

Youssef held some countries responsible for prolonging the conflict, saying, “The countries that support the RSF militia with weapons are the ones who caused the war, that we seek to resolve at home and abroad, to be prolonged.” He added, “Without this support before and after the war, the fighting would not have lasted this long, and this militia would not have been able to seize all this amount of Sudanese territory.”

Regarding the future of negotiations, the Sudanese Foreign Minister explained that war only generates war that continues until the last soldier on the weaker side, noting that “there are always negotiations at some point that end with the end of the war, and this usually happens with the surrender of the defeated party in the war.”

Concerning relations with neighboring countries, Youssef stressed Sudan’s keenness to establish good relations with its neighbors, underlining that “the stability of Sudan is essential for the stability of the region.”
