(Al-Hilu forces) commit a human massacre in Kadugli

The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) led by Abdelaziz Al-Hilu committed a human massacre in the city of Kadugli, which claimed the lives of about 126 unarmed innocent citizens, most of them children and women, due to random SPLM artillery shelling on Kadugli.
The SPLM former leader and head of the Democratic Bloc, Mubarak Ardol, condemned what Al-Hilu forces did. He confirmed that more than 40 citizens were killed and more than 70 others were wounded during the artillery shelling of the city. Ardol said that Kadugli hospitals cannot handle the size of these human losses due to their narrowness and lack of medical supplies.
For his part, the Wali (governor) of South Kordofan, Mohamed Ibrahim, acknowledged the incident and revealed that most of the victims, who were children and women, were transferred to the military hospital in the city.
The Wali of South Kordofan State announced, in statements, the army’s response to the artillery shelling by Al-Hilu forces and the confrontations between the two forces, through which the army was able to inflict heavy losses on the SPLM- Al-Hilu. Large quantities of weapons, ammunition and vehicles were also seized. “The army is on the lookout for them,” he added, pledging that the army will continue its operations to clear the mountains surrounding Kadugli and open the Deling-Kadogli road.
The commander of the 14th Infantry Division in Kadugli, Faisal Mukhtar, also announced that the Sudanese army had taken control of the SPLM- Al-Hilu sites east of the city, which were used to target civilians, stressing the continuation of combat operations, pursuing agents and enemies, and ending the rebellion.
Meanwhlie, a statement by the Democratic Alliance for Social Justice revealed that the number of victims had risen to 49 dead and the wounded to more than 77.
The official spokesman for the alliance, Hudhayfah Abdullah, called on international community institutions and civil society organizations to condemn and hold the SPLM- Al-Hilu accountable, and that the crime should not go unpunished, threatening to pursue the perpetrators, stressing that these crimes will not be subject to a statute of limitations.
