Sudanese Army Carries Out an Airdrop to its Base in Babanusa
The 22nd Infantry Division, the army base in Babanusa in West Kordofan State, disclosed on Saturday that the armed forces had carried out a successful airdrop.
The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) are besieging the city of Babanusa, most of whose residents have been displaced, from all directions after failing to seize control of the city amid the army’s fearless defense.
In a brief statement received by Sudan Tribune, the 22nd Division said it had received “a successful parachute drop on the division’s walls and a 100% takeover.”
Military sources reported that the airdrop included supplies of weapons, ammunition, food, and medical supplies.
The airdrop to Babanusa, the second of its kind in three weeks after a months-long hiatus, and the raids launched against RSF targets in various parts of Kordofan indicate that the army has regained air superiority.
