Sudan beats Tanzania on penalties to reach CHAN final qualifiers
The Sudanese National Football Team beat its Tanzanian host on penalties 6-5, on Sunday evening, after a 1-1 draw in the aggregate of the first and second leg of the semi-final qualifying round for the African Nations Championship (CHAN).
The Sudanese team fell behind in the second leg by a goal in the 36th minute scored by Coastal Union player Crispin Ngushi Mahagama, and the heads were tied in the following minutes.
The Tanzanian team suffered a numerical shortage in the final minutes of the match, which relieved the pressure on the Sudanese defense, so the match turned into a penalty shootout to decide the identity of the team that qualified for the final round of these qualifiers.
The Sudanese team held firm in the penalty shootout by taking 6 correct kicks, while the Tanzanian team scored 5 kicks and missed the sixth one to lose the match on its home field and in front of its fans.
