SAF Anti-aircraft Systems Intercept Drones Over Merowe and Al-Dabba
Late Monday night, the Sudanese Armed Forces’ (SAF) anti-aircraft systems intercepted Rapid Support Forces (RSF) drones targeting the cities of Al-Dabba and Merowe in northern Sudan.
A press release from the Sudanese Army’s 19th Infantry Division in Merowe, Northern State, confirmed that its anti-aircraft systems intercepted suicide drones launched by the Rapid Support Forces in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
According to the release, the drones attempted to target the 19th Division’s headquarters in Merowe, approximately 400 kilometers north of the capital, Khartoum.
The release reassured that the division is fully prepared and ready to protect and secure the Northern State from any attack, according to the release.
In the city of Al-Dabba, approximately 350 kilometers north of Khartoum, eyewitnesses told Sudan Tribune that the army’s anti-aircraft systems also intercepted drones late Monday night in the city of Al-Dabba in Northern State.
Eyewitnesses heard the sounds of drones flying over the city of Al-Dabba before the army’s anti-aircraft weapons engaged them intensively. A barrage of anti-aircraft fire was seen and heard as the drones were intercepted.
