A medical device for CT scans belonging to Soba University Hospital affiliated with the University of Khartoum was found – by chance – in South Africa after the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia looted the device from the hospital.
A medical source told (Sudanese Echoes) that the device is one of the most modern CT scan devices in the world and its market value is about $850,000. It was sold to a party in South Africa. The party that bought the device contacted the agent of the manufacturing company in a European country asking for the software for the device to operate it. The agent of the manufacturing company asked to send the serial number of the device.
It turned out that the device was owned by Soba University Hospital affiliated with the University of Khartoum administration. The device was seized by the security authorities in South Africa until the circumstances of this case were resolved.
The RSF militia had carried out organized ransacking operations in public and private hospitals in Khartoum and all states and seized hundreds of medical devices. They were transported and sold by the militia, and some of them were sold to parties outside the country at the lowest prices.
