Qatar Plans to Establish a World-Class Gold Refinery in Khartoum
Well-informed sources within the Sudanese government have revealed significant progress in talks with the State of Qatar regarding cooperation in the gold sector, following the recent decision by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to suspend economic and trade dealings with Khartoum — a move that official sources described as an attempt to strangle the Sudanese economy.
According to the sources, Qatar has expressed strong interest in participating in the establishment of a modern gold refinery in Khartoum, in addition to setting up a gold exchange, which would open new markets for Sudan and enhance its revenues from gold exports.
The sources confirmed that Doha has pledged substantial financial support to ensure the success of the project through strategic partnerships, contributing to strengthening economic sovereignty and reducing reliance on traditional markets.
