Prominent Lawyer Arrested in El-Geneina on Charges of Spying for the Army

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia in El-Geneina, West Darfur, has arrested lawyer Mohamed El-Obeid Daku, accusing him of spying and cooperating with the Sudanese army and the joint force of armed movements.

Sources told Darfur 24 that the militia arrested lawyer Mohamed El-Obeid Daku from his office in downtown El-Geneina, accusing him of spying and collaborating with the army and the joint force.

The sources indicated that El-Obeid was a prominent leader in the National Congress Party (NCP), the party led by ousted President Omar Al-Bashir, and held several executive and security positions, including coordinator of the Popular Defense Forces in West Darfur.

The sources stated that the militia accuses him of leading a cell backed by prominent leaders of the NCP regime, with the aim of destabilizing West Darfur and plotting the entry of the joint force into the state.
