OHCHR report: RSF militia imprisoned more than 10,000 people in Khartoum

The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) revealed that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia imprisoned more than 10,000 people in detention centers inside Khartoum State, hundreds of whom died due to torture and disease.
The commission published a report, covering the period from April 15, 2023 to June 2024, on human rights abuses and violations of international humanitarian law in detention facilities affiliated with the army and Rapid Support Forces in Khartoum.
The report said that the Human Rights Commission “confirmed the existence of 39 detention facilities for the militia, in which about 10,000 people were detained during the period covered by the report.”
The OHCHR report indicated that Soba Prison is the largest detention center for the militia, followed by a complex in Riyadh, east of Khartoum, in addition to various infrastructure facilities used as detention centers, including residential buildings, government headquarters, police stations, schools, a court, two universities, a kindergarten, a store, and a factory, in addition to three military bases.
