NUP: “UAE agents” in the party support (parallel government)

The National Umma Party (NUP) renewed its rejection of forming a parallel government to the current authority, strongly denying its consent of an alliance with some components of the Revolutionary Front to form that government, accusing those it called the “agents” of United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the party of being behind the statements supporting this step.

Press reports published on Sunday indicated that the announcement of this government is imminent and that the commander of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia, Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (Hemeidti), will assume the position of Chairman of the Sovereignty Council, with its headquarters in Khartoum.

Informed sources said last week that the head of the National Umma Party, Burma Nasser, is participating in these meetings.

A group of NUP party issued a statement on Monday, signed by the leaders and cadres of the National Umma Party, in which it supported the formation of a parallel government in areas controlled by the militia.

The statement did not mention the names of those leaders or cadres, while the NUP Secretary-General, Al-Wathiq Al-Bureir, said that unknown circles issue such statements, and that they do not represent any institution within the party.

For his part, NUP leader Hassan Osman Salih said that there is a group he described as “UAE agents” behind these statements. Salih stressed that the party stands in one trench behind the armed forces to liberate every inch of the homeland.
