Mother and Three Children from the Same Family Killed in SPLM-N ‎Shelling of Kadugli

The Sudan Doctors Network said on Saturday that three children and ‎their mother had been killed in shelling carried out by the Sudan ‎People’s Liberation Movement–North (SPLM-N) targeting Kadugli, the ‎capital of South Kordofan State in southern Sudan.‎

In a statement, the network said the SPLM-N had launched artillery ‎shelling on Kadugli, killing an entire family consisting of a mother and ‎her three children, according to preliminary information.‎

The network condemned the shelling, stressing that it constituted ‎another violation of international humanitarian law, which prohibits ‎attacks on residential areas and civilians. It noted that the killing of the ‎mother and her children reflected the tragic scale of civilian casualties ‎resulting from attacks on residential neighbourhoods in the city.‎

The network described the indiscriminate shelling of civilians as a ‎condemnable crime and a flagrant violation of international ‎conventions, adding that such attacks further deepen the suffering of ‎residents already facing extremely complex humanitarian and security ‎conditions.‎
