Ministry of Foreign Affairs: Outlaw RSF Militia Released Terrorists from Prisons
Sudan is participating in the High-Level Conference on “Enhancing International Cooperation to Combat Terrorism and Building Flexible Border Security Mechanisms, Dushanbe Process” being held in Kuwait on November 4-5, 2024.
The Director General of International Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), Ambassador Anas Al-Tayib Al-Gailani, presented Sudan’s statement at the conference, where he renewed Sudan’s principled position rejecting terrorism in all its forms and manifestations as a flagrant violation of the rules of international law and a threat to international peace and security.
Ambassador Al-Gailani reviewed Sudan’s cooperation with the international system and the United Nations within the framework of the United Nations Strategy to Combat International Terrorism. The statement referred to the Sudan national efforts in this regard, such as dismantling terrorist cells, arresting dozens of foreign terrorists and taking legal measures against them, stating that the Janjaweed RSF militia deliberately released a number of these terrorists among a large number of convicted criminals in prisons in all the cities it attacked. Some of these are now in its ranks, which confirms that it is a terrorist organization.
The statement called for classifying the outlaw RSF militia as a terrorist group because it follows the same approach as terrorist groups, like Boko Haram and ISIS, do; targeting civilians, women and children in particular, taking them hostage, enslaving women, and attacking places of worship. The outlaw RSF militia also, the statement added, vandalized heritage and cultural landmarks, infrastructure, universities, hospitals and service stations.
The MFA statement said that the insurgent RSF militia is a cross-border organization, the same as terrorist groups, includes hundreds of thousands of mercenaries and enjoys support from various countries.
The statement called for international and regional cooperation to control border and coastal security, exchange information and combat the phenomenon of mercenaries and militias based on ethnicity across borders due to their danger to regional and international security.
