(Including Foreign Affairs and Information)… Cabinet reshuffle of four portfolios in Sudan
President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) in Sudan carried out a cabinet reshuffle that included four ministries, top of which the Foreign Affairs and Information portfolios. Since the overthrow of the government in October 2021, ministers have been assigned as acting ministers.
The Transitional Sovereignty Council published on its Facebook page on Sunday evening the approval of its President, General Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, of the decisions of the interim cabinet on terminating the assignment of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Information and Culture, Religious Affairs and Endowments, and assigning others in their place, in addition to assigning a minister to the Trade and Supply portfolio.
General Al-Burhan ratified a decision “on ending the assignment of Ambassador Hussein Awad Ali from the duties of Minister of Foreign Affairs, and ratifying the assignment of Ambassador Ali Yousuf Al-Sharif to the duties of Minister of Foreign Affairs.”
Awad’s dismissal came only about seven months after his appointment as Minister of Foreign Affairs. Al-Sharif is a retired diplomat who previously served as Sudan’s ambassador to China and South Africa.
TSC President also approved a decision on “terminating the assignment of Graham Abdel-Gadir from the duties of Minister of Culture and Information and endorsing the assignment of Khalid Ali Al-Aiser”, a journalist and TV presenter based in London, in his place.
The cabinet reshuffle included assigning Omar Banfer as Minister of Trade and Supply, replacing the former Minister of Trade, Al-Fatih Abdullah Yousuf, who was dismissed last July.
Omar Bakhit was also assigned as Minister of Religious Affairs and Endowments, replacing Osama Hassan Mohammed
