In revenge attacks, Sudanese Killed and wounded in South Sudan, Salva Kiir warns

 

South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit ordered Security Forces on Friday to protect Sudanese and their property after two days of riots and vandalism that targeted Sudanese citizens in at least four cities, killing three and wounding others.

 

At a time when the South Sudanese authorities imposed a curfew in the entire country.

 

The riots came in protest against reports of the killing of South Sudanese in Wad Madani after the Sudanese army regained control of the city.

 

For the second day, the unrest continued in Juba and other cities, targeting Sudanese homes and shops.

 

 

In accordance with a tally of casualties from official officials, the riots resulted in the killing of three people and the wounding of seven others from the Sudanese community.

 

A large number of shops were plundered and destroyed in the capital’s markets and the neighborhoods of Gudele, Al-Thawra, Munuki, Al-Jabal and Gombo Sherkat.

 

 

The protests included Juba and some major cities such as Wau, Aweil, Malakal and other areas.

 

The government intervened by deploying police and other security forces to disperse the vandals and criminals and protect the Sudanese in the neighborhoods of Juba and other cities. The police imposed a cordon around the Sudanese embassy, ​​and heavy gunfire was heard.

 

After meeting with security officials on Friday, President Salva Kiir issued an order to the security forces to restore law and order in the country.

 

Salva Kiir said in a speech that “anyone caught plundering property must be held accountable,” stressing that “the citizens of South Sudan still consider Sudan their homeland and similarly, several Sudanese citizens consider South Sudan their homeland. This is due to our shared history and therefore the government of South Sudan is obligated to protect them.”

 

In addition, a number of Sudanese and their families residing in the outskirts and suburbs of Juba were deported by the security services to military sites and fortified places in order to protect them from any targeting that threatens their lives.
