In Hemeidti and Brothers Court…Sudan’s Attorney General: Justice Will Reach the Criminals

Portsudan: Sudanese Echoes
The Attorney General of the Republic of Sudan, Al-Fatih Mohamed Issa Tayfour, has affirmed the determination and seriousness of the judicial bodies to prevent impunity.
In his indictment before the Portsudan Terrorism Court, presided over by the Judge Al-Mamoun Al-Khawad on Sunday, he said that the announcement of these defendants and their referral to trial sends a decisive message to all those who deliberately hide and flee that the sword of justice will reach them.
He explained, before the court, that the prosecution presented a coherent case containing audio, visual, and written evidence, witness testimonies, and evidence beyond a reasonable doubt, sufficient to convict the defendants. He requested the court to deliver justice.
In his indictment, Attorney General Tayfour outlined the case’s circumstances, including the murder of the slain governor, his liquidation, and the mutilation of his body. This was part of a broader scheme of treachery and betrayal initiated by the militia with the attack on Merowe Airport on April 13, 2023, and continued with the attack on the General Command and the attempted assassination of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC).
Tayfour pointed out that the slain governor confronted them in accordance with his constitutional powers, inspecting citizens and public facilities. However, the defendants arrested him, took him to the militia headquarters, liquidated him, dragged him, and left his body in the open for the boys to mutilate. The defendants also included the deputy governor and the militia commander in the area.
The charges against the defendants included criminal complicity, incitement, criminal conspiracy and assistance, inciting war against the state, undermining the constitutional order, assaulting the dead, unlawful detention, and war against persons.
