Helicopter bombs MSF hospital in South Sudan

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) has condemned the airstrike that targeted its hospital in the old town of Fangak, Jonglei, South Sudan, early Saturday morning, describing the incident as a “serious violation of international humanitarian law.”

According to a statement from the organization, the attack began at 4:30 a.m., when two helicopters dropped bombs on the hospital’s pharmacy, completely burning it. The bombing of the town continued for more than half an hour, followed by a drone strike on Fangak market at 7:00 a.m., killing at least seven people and wounding 20 others.

MSF called for the protection of civilians and civilian facilities, stressing that “targeting hospitals and health workers is unacceptable and must stop immediately.”
